When we talk Celtic goalkeepers we think (modern day) Artur Boric, Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon don’t we?

Go back further and there Rab Douglas and Pat Bonner.

All, in my eyes, go from world class goalies to very decent keepers with Rab Douglas probably the one more up for debate in terms of class even though he took us to a European Final.

Personally, I really liked Big Rab. But that’s opinions for you. Bonner was my favourite growing up.

But we all know of one keeper that always comes up when we talk about poor teams from the 90’s.

Whenever Celtic fans talk rubbish footballers this guys name always seems to pop up.

To give you a hint, he was from the Lou Macari era and Paul John Dykes was discussing him on A Celtic State of Mind“People look back on Celtic goalies, and always hear this.

“I don’t know if you remember this one but I always hear the name Carl Muggleton being brought in in the discussion when we’re talking about flops.

“Carl Muggleton, I’m sorry, wasn’t a flop.

“He absolutely wasn’t a flop. I think he suffers from having an unusual surname. Playing for one of the worst Celtic sides under Lou Macari.

“But when you actually look at his actual record, he played 13 games for Celtic, and he had nine shut outs, and I think about eight of them were in a row.

“He had one bad game, 2-0 nothing defeat to Kilmarnock at Rugby Park.

“He was dropped and never came back. So I never ever subscribe to the Carl Muggleton being a flop. I just think that that’s something that’s developed over time.”
