The debate over Celtic joining the EPL is one that has been raging for decades.

For me, it should be a no go.

Celtic are a Scottish club and should be playing in Scotland.

If we moved down south there is a huge chance that we would lose our identity as I believe we would become a target for a takeover by someone with more money than sense.

But let’s say for arguments sake that the move was on the cards.

Could we survive down south?

Hearts star Toni Sibbick thinks so.

As reported by the Edinburgh News, Sibbick said, “If, let’s say Celtic, Rangers or even us to an extent, were to face some Championship teams, I do think we would give them a good game and beat them.

“Down south, I think they are still a bit stuck in that mindframe.

“If you actually watch the games and do some education on yourself, you will realise that there is quality up here.”

And Sibbick touches on a great point.

Their is a lot of football snobbery down south regarding our game and at every opportunity they gate, the fans down south write it off whilst they admit that they have never seen a game.

It’s bizarre.

They also seem to forget that every time Celtic come up against English Premier League opposition in Europe we tend to beat them or at least hold our own.

But the idea is a bust. I wouldn’t want us down there and let’s be honest, the majority of the clubs down south wouldn’t vote for it out of fear because they know that if Celtic were admitted into their leagues, before too long we would be dominating it.

Who were Celtic’s most expensive transfers these seasons?
