It was just a matter of time before this circus started again.

After Everton’s sacking of Frank Lampard, Celtic fans were just waiting on the inevitable speculatory articles linking Ange Postecoglou with a move to The Toffees.

It’s as predictable as it is unsurprising but I guess the only part of this report that surprised me is that it was the Daily Mail that has reported it this morning and not the usual Scottish media outlets.

That and the fact it took so long, but hey, it is hard trying to put a new angle on old news to make it look fresh.

Ange was ‘linked’ to Everton last November when it became apparent that Lampard was on borrowed time.

With Celtic set to face the Merseyside club in the Sydney Super Cup, the link was as predicted as it was lazy and now that Lampard had gone, the Daily Mail has claimed, “While Bielsa is firm favourite, the Toffees have also reportedly considered Postecoglou along with former Burnley boss Sean Dyche and West Ham’s former Everton manager David Moyes.”

Why on earth Ange would consider anything to do with Everton is beyond me.

That manager’s job is a poisoned chalice.

Since Moyes departed back in 2013, Everton has chewed up and spat out a grand total of nine managers including legends in the game like Ronald Koeman, Carlo Ancelotti and Rafa Benitez.

Why on earth Ange would leave a stable, and bigger, club like Celtic and trade it for instability and chaos is beyond me.

It wouldn’t happen.

And the funny thing is if anyone could sort out Everton and turn them into a strong EPL club it would be Ange.

But the Celtic boss is onto something at Paradise. He will leave us eventually but it will not be until he decides and it will be for a far better and bigger club than Everton.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?
