That press conference yesterday was something else wasn’t it?

Ange Postecoglou just didn’t hold back as he went on full scale attack mode at the press for the transfer rumours linking the club with all and sundry of the last few weeks.

Was the McGree debacle the one straw that broke the camels back?

Possibly.

But it does seem that the Scottish media narrative that there will be no more transfer business in January is skewed slightly.

As Ange was asked [Glasgow Times] if a more lucrative contract offered by Middlesbrough had swayed McGree’s decision to move to the English Championship, Postecoglou said, “I don’t know mate.

“To be honest, I don’t care. I don’t dig that deeply in to it.

“The first transfer I did 25 years ago taught me you don’t take these things personally.

“Ultimately they are not rejecting me, they are not rejecting the football club.

“Everyone has their own free will to make decisions.

“It’s the same for both parties. It’s not just one party who decided not to go ahead. We decided not to go ahead as well. Because for me what’s most important is they want to come here.

“It’s no big issue for me. There are plenty of footballers who would love to come to this football club.

“They are the ones I’m looking for.”

So is Ange still on the lookout for some fresh talent? Of course he is.

All managers are.

Ange is no different and I am sure that going into the last two weeks of this window and a player he likes becomes available, the Celtic boss will do all he can to make the move happen.
