Celtic are interested in signing Swansea City right-back Connor Roberts, according to The Daily Record.

The paper reckon that Brendan Rodgers sees the position as a priority ahead of the January transfer window after missing out on Cristiano Piccini in the summer and the club see Roberts as a viable option.

The 23-year-old, who is rated as worth £1.8m by Transfermarkt, has been a regular for the Swans in the English Championship this season, making 16 appearances overall and helping them push for a play-off position.

His current contract runs out at the end of this season though, making him a prime option for clubs shopping on a budget like Celtic.

The player has won seven caps for Wales, playing regularly from the start as of late.

With Mikael Lustig struggling for form at times this year, signing a right-back would be greeted warmly by supporters this January.

The Swede’s contract is up at the end of the season and while it looks like he might extend that, utilising him in more of a back-up role is the way to go for most fans.

Is Connor Roberts the answer? He’s one to watch over the next couple of months that’s for sure.
