Celtic rejected a £13m bid for midfielder Olivier Ntcham from Porto last week, and despite the offer being refused, the Portuguese side are expected to return with an improved bid according to Goal.com.

The English transfer window may have shut, but Hoops stars continued to be linked with moves away from Glasgow, although to this point the club have remained steadfast in the face of interest.

The good news regarding Ntcham comes via The Daily Record, who reported on Friday that although the bid was received and the player was made aware, he is not agitating for a transfer, having been told there is no chance of him leaving this summer.

Clearly the club recognise that the French midfielder is virtually irreplaceable in the Celtic side right now, having emerged as a creative, physical force in the middle of the park for the Hoops.

Still just 22 years of age, he has enormous potential and getting another season at least out of the player should be seen as a priority.

His current contract at the club doesn’t expire until 2021.

Having exited the UEFA Champions League, and losing out on the riches that entails, there may always be a temptation to cash in on players, especially for fees north of £10m, but right now the club are doing the right thing in refusing all offers for the Frenchman.
