As the second of a four part in tonights series of free transfers that could be added to Celtic’s squad here I present Florian Grillitsch.
The Austrian international has just been released by German side Hoffenheim who finished 9th in the Bundesliga last season.
He was thought to be making the move to Italy with Fiorentina, but that move fell through after a disagreement about salary. Florence Sporting Director Daniele Prade said of the negotiations, “We didn’t like the father’s talk and the payments he demanded.
“We decide who we work with.”
So probably a word of caution there.
Valued just over £14m [Transfermarkt] and on a reported weekly wage of £35k per week [Salary Sport] at Hoffenheim, if his dad keeps out of negotiations then Celtic could afford to take him on board.
With a passing accuracy of 89% and an winning almost 70% of his duels in the centre of midfield, Grillitsch steel and determination certainly could add to this Celtic side.
Again, as a free agent, very little outlay at the beginning makes this a move that could benefit Celtic not only in the first team but also with sell on value as at just 26 years old, Grillitsch still has his best years ahead of him.
