As Celtics transfer business hits the headlines we all love the speculation surrounding the window.

But there are two reasons that makes this window more intriguing than any others we have experienced.

For one, we are recruiting for a genuine crack at the groups stages of the Champions League.

Not the qualifiers. No preliminary rounds. The real deal.

And right away, the club is opened to whole new market of player.

Secondly, Ange Postecoglou. I genuinely cannot wait to see what he brings to the table now he has more time to analyse what he REALLY needs in the summer.

With Chris Jullien seemingly looking for a way out of the club, that would leave us open to finding a suitable replacement for the big Frenchman.

One player that has been recommended to as a fit for that role by 67 Hail Hail’s Hamish Carton, wouldn’t break the bank either.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Hamish said, “You can’t do one of these videos nowadays without including a Japanese player and i’m going for Maya Yoshida.

“A defender who has been capped 115 times by his country.

“You’ll probably know him best from his Southampton days. He was there from 2012 till 2020 he’s been with Sampdoria in Serie A since.

“But he’s now set to leave them this summer on a free.

“Very technically able he’s the kind of  player who could play the Ange system very well bringing the ball out from the back.

“Maybe something we’ve struggled with a little bit at times in the higher level matches this season. The0  semi-final at Hampden and some European games spring to mind.

“He’s still a regular for japan  so he’s not exactly over the hill.

“As much as he is getting on a little bit, he’s played pretty consistently for Sampdoria as well over the last couple of seasons.

“Surely being able to join up with a couple of his international teammates could be a draw as well and, of course, playing in the Champions League.

“Kyogo get on the phone.”

Available on a free and would not demand the earth in terms of a salary. Reportedly on £24k per week [SalarySport] at the Italians, Yoshida would fit into our wage bracket and bring some much needed experience to the back line that has an average age of 24 years (assuming CCV stays), it may not be a bad idea bringing in some more backline experience.
