21-y/o discusses future and could be at Celtic next season

|

Celtic are looking to seal another treble this weekend and it’ll certainly be historic as we aim for our third in a row.

It’s been a fantastic run of form for the Bhoys in recent years and repeating treble after treble has been some feat.

After the weekend, though, changes are expected in terms of the playing squad and it remains to be seen where exactly Filip Benkovic – on loan from Leicester – is going to end up.

The 21-year-old has had a good season with us and could be a very good defender so we’d like to keep him at the club.

He hasn’t ruled out that, or anything else, for next season, too, with him discussing his future in an interview with Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti.

He said:

“I’ve had a really successful year at Celtic and I have to thank them for the positive things they have done for me this year which has led to the call-up.

“I can’t talk about what club I will be at next year because nothing is known yet and might not be for some time, probably only after all my international duties this summer.”

He hasn’t said where he’ll be next year, then, and he has enjoyed it here so he could well be at our club next season.

Certainly, though, whatever happens it looks as though our defence is going to see several changes this summer in terms of playing staff.
