The Peterborough striker has enjoyed a tremendous individual season, and his achievements has evoked transfer interest from a whole host of clubs, including Celtic.

As the Scotsman reports, Celtic are believed to be one of the clubs interested in the services of Peterborough striker, Jack Marriot.  The 23-year-old enjoyed a tremendous first season with the Posh, yet he could be poised to depart the club.

It is believed that the League One are insistent upon a £6M fee to authenticate Marriot’s departure. In 56 appearances for the English side, Marriot amassed a sensational total of 33 goals. While Brendan Rodgers’ side includes several attacking players, none of them could rival the English striker’s excellent goal-scoring record.

Celtic’s most prominent player, Moussa Dembele had only amassed 16 goals in all competitions last campaign, which is illustrative of how successful Marriot has been this season. This isn’t to insinuate that League One is of equal quality to the SPL; however, Marriot could become a terrific addition to the Celtic team.

Gary Hooper is a tremendous example of how a striker can emulate their success in Scotland following a productive spell in England. At the age of 23, Marriot possesses vast potential, and he could further his skills while at Celtic.

The potential arrival of Marriot could provide Brendan Rodgers with invaluable competition in attack, while also augmenting the emphasis that has been placed on longevity and future development.

If Celtic are to maintain their domestic domination, and superiority over Rangers, then the addition of another consistent goalscorer would be of tremendous benefit while fortifying their power. The arrival of Marriott could further widen the gulf in class that exists between Celtic and their divisional rivals while reinforcing the side’s creativity. Accordingly, the Hoops should do everything they can to sign the striker.
