67-year-old on Celtic shortlist to replace Neil Lennon

|

Claudio Ranieri is on Celtic’s shortlist to become the club’s permanent manager this summer, according to Italian outlet Calciomercatoweb.

The website reckon he is set to leave Serie A giants Roma this summer and will find himself a wanted man by multiple clubs ahead of the new season, with Celtic certainly showing interest.

An operator with vast experience and trophy winning credentials such as leading Leicester City to an incredible English Premier League title in 2015/16, his appointment would probably go down well with a large section of the Hoops support.

The 67-year-old always seems popular with players wherever he goes so that would be another benefit, with the talent at the Hoops well set up to dominant domestic competitions if they are happy and confident.

There is an element of risk though considering his record since leaving the Foxes hasn’t exactly caught the imagination. Are his managerial skills struggling to move with the times?

So many names are now being linked with the Celtic job that it makes it difficult to figure out what direction the club will go in, but Ranieri’s name is certainly one to watch over the next couple of weeks.
