We had all better get used to this. As the transfer window stories start to stack up, Celtic will be linked with every  player south of the equator from now until the window closes, but this one is different.

This story comes from an Australian source that suggests forty two capped Aaron Mooy would consider a move to the Hoops due to his family having strong links with Scotland.

Mooy is an experienced central midfielder and a main stay in the Australian national team. He currently plays for Shanghai Port but wasn’t selected for the national squads upcoming 2022 World Cup qualifiers in Kuwait. The Socceroos coach Graham Arnold explains why, “Aaron being in China, being on his own, away from his family, he hasn’t seen his wife or kids for four months.

“The family haven’t been able to get into China. Aaron, he felt he had to see his family. I support that 100 percent.

Is Ange Postecoglou the man for the Celtic job?

“Family is number one in life and Aaron is so committed to the Socceroos and was put in a position where if he didn’t go and see his family now he wouldn’t have seen them for 12 months … I can’t wait to see Aaron back in camp in the third phase in September.”

According to the report, with the COVID pandemic and China’s hard hitting isolation rules, players in the Chinese league are not allowed to leave their hotels and as such, Mooy’s family have not been able to gain access to China.

A move to Celtic would be extremely attractive to Mooy and could tip the scales in terms of negotiating a deal to bring the Aussie to Celtic Park.
