Aberdeen defender Shay Logan loves to talk about Celtic and his latest comments prior to Sunday’s Scottish League Cup final will hopefully light a fire in Brendan Rodgers’ squad.

Logan is talking a big game on the back of the Dons defeating us in a meaningless end-of-season encounter last term when an Andy Considine goal delivered a 1-0 victory for Derek McInnes’ side.

Somehow it’s proof that Aberdeen can match the Hoops on Sunday, with Logan also claiming his side have more heart than Celtic.

As quoted by The Scotsman, the Dons man said:

Celtic might have players who are better than us, but heart-wise I doubt they have a team that has more heart than us. So we have to fight and dig in and hopefully come out with a good result.

We go into the final knowing we have pushed them before, we have beaten them in their back garden.

Although it may only have been once in how many years, it shows that it can be done. Celtic have lost this season, so they can be beaten. We don’t worry about them, we have to focus on ourselves.

Hopefully the Hoops can show Logan why we’ve won the last six domestic trophies available to us and why beating us in a nothing match isn’t proof of anything.

Celtic have shown enormous heart and determination in recent seasons to overcome every domestic challenge presented to us. You don’t go through an unbeaten season, or win back-to-back trebles, on talent alone.

It takes a desire beyond anything Aberdeen have shown in recent seasons.
