Aberdeen captain Graeme Shinnie has criticised Celtic stars Mikael Lustig and Scott Brown for having the gall to celebrate a Scottish League Cup win at Hampden on Sunday.

The Dons loser took issue with the way the pair wound up midfield prospect Lewis Ferguson and appears to have had a bit of a meltdown when speaking to assembled press.

As quoted by The Herald, the 27-year-old said:

It just frustrated me when some of their players are celebrating in front of a young 19-year-old kid who is just trying to do well. You can have a wee bit more class than that.

Was Brown noising me up too? Definitely.

There’s ways to go about being a captain. You can have a bit of class about you – they don’t and it frustrated me. He will do what he does. It doesn’t bother me. But when it’s people like young Ferguson they are going for … they are older professionals and they should know better.

A lot of people seem to have a real problem with Celtic celebrating things these days. If it’s not Rangers fans knocking over wheelchairs, it’s Police Scotland losing the plot or opposition captains whining in the media.

Seven successive domestic trophies will do that of course and it’s pleasing to hear that Lustig and Brown are still enjoying their trophy wins as much as ever.

Shinnie will have to chew on his sour grapes for a while longer the way Celtic are motoring this season.
