It’s about time! For me, I am sick fed up of hearing about Celtic fans continually bleat about John Kennedy/Gavin Strachan’s bloody iPad! The amount of vitriol aimed at the pair of them is bordering on personal attacks and for me, that’s not what the Celtic fans are all about.

It angers me just as much as the abuse, yes abuse, Lennon used to get whenever a split second picture arose of him seemingly disinterested in the dugout or not dancing with Kennedy whenever a goal was scored.  Side point, remember Martin O’Neill and his animated celebrations? Did he ever celebrate wildly with John Robertson? Not that I can recall. Anyway……..

Now, I know this season has been been a disappointment. Ok, a monumental disaster, but the fixation the Hoops fans have on this makes us sound like backward thinking supporters when in actual fact, use of modern technology is widely used by many, many managers in the Scottish leagues and beyond.

Should Eddie Howe replace Neil Lennon?

YES

NO

But don’t take my word for it. Current Dumbarton manager and Clyde 1 Superscoreboard pundit, Jim Duffy, berated a Celtic fan on last nights show when the fan claimed that “iPad guy” Gavin Strachan is “one of the worst coaches he had ever seen in his life”.  He didn’t back up the statement. Didn’t present any facts. Just the iPad. Duffy has over 25 years experience in the management game including Director of Football at Hearts and Assistant Manager at Norwich City in England.

Duffy was having none of it when he raged, “If you look at any top Premier League match. Nearly every coach has got an iPad, nearly every coach!  Either the managers got one or next to him, his assistant or various coaches have got an iPad. But that’s the nature of football. That doesn’t mean that you’re not a good coach or you can’t add something to the coaching team as part of a team. It is absolute nonsense to say things like that”.

I, for one, am glad he put that fan bang to rights. Celtic fans need to focus their attention on what the board are doing to remedy this calamitous season and making sure they do their due diligence trying to get the next managerial appointment correct, whether he has an iPad or not!
