Not too long ago, Vital Celtic reported on the clubs interest in Frenchman Alexandre Mendy.

It was widely reported that the Hoops were looking at the striker and reports went as far as claiming the Hoops had already submitted a €3m offer for the 16 goal hitman.

Quite where he would fit into the side remains a headache that Ange would need to deal with but more than likely he would be back up for Giakoumakis and Kyogo.

But just how real was that interest because to report a €3m offer had been submitted surely meant there was substance to the story right?

Not so says the players agent.

Speaking to Le10Sport [via Get French Football News], Mendy’s representative Warsame Egal said of the speculation, “We don’t know where the story comes from…

“If a club wants a player, they still start by asking the player if he wants to move, right?

“But I haven’t been contacted by anyone, so I think it’s obviously false.”

As that move is now quashed and put to bed, there is no doubt Ange has put the feelers out and is putting next seasons plans in place as he aims to build the squad in time for the Champions League group stages.
