The Glasgow Derby was a much anticipated affair. As the Celtic fans were eager to see how Ange Postecoglou’s playing style fared against the Scottish champions was going to be a measure of how far the team has come in such a short space of time.

Of course, hindsight is an amazing thing and Alex Rae was dishing it out in spades on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard when he seemed to slate the whole team selection and substitutions.

But there was one area Rae specifically mentioned when he took out the scattergun to Postecoglou’s team selection and it really was baffling, “I actually thought when Kyogo was out in the in the left hand side I thought he could have given Balogun a lot more trouble.

“He obviously never done that in the day. We got the manager saying that he got that wrong.

“I also felt he got the left back situation wrong, I thought Montgomery would have been more the natural left sider bombing down that flank.

“I thought as you open up you get the ball quicker to Kyogo as well.

“So I thought that kind of didn’t quite work so well.

“I thought some of the decisions, you look at Abada, how did he stay on so long when you’re chasing the game?

“And then to take Turnbull off and put Soro in, a sitting midfielder on.

“I thought  the decisions for me weren’t quite right on the day.”

*long pause*. So the Celtic gaffer got the left back position wrong even though it was widely accepted that Juranovic had a solid debut? Would Montgomery have bombed down that left side on his first derby match?

Is choosing a proven internationalist above a young 19 year old kid the wrong decision to make?

We all know these games can make or break a players career and certainly NOT starting young Montgomery was the correct choice to make. Especially after his exertions on Thursday night.

Alex Rae should stick to pundi…….no wait.
