Celtic midfielder Callum McGregor will be looking for his team to go for the win when RB Salzburg come calling on Thursday night, believing that the atmosphere at Celtic Park will make it impossible to play for a draw.

McGregor has emerged as the premier player in the middle of the park for the Hoops in recent months and many will be looking for him to try and dictate the tempo of the UEFA Europa League fixture.

He’s looking to bring the game to the Austrians.

As quoted by The Herald, the 25-year-old said of the match:

We need to try to win. It’s difficult to play for a draw. The fans automatically take over and it’s all guns blazing.

We have to be aggressive in the game, but also have a tactical idea that makes sure we aren’t too open. It’s a case of being positive, but we need to keep the back door shut too.

Thursday is a massive game for us. Salzburg were semi-finalists last season and we know how tough it’s going to be. We are in a good vein of form. The stadium will be rocking and we want to have a good night.

The task ahead of Celtic isn’t easy, especially when you consider that Thursday’s visitors have won every group match so far this term and looked comfortable doing so.

They know what it takes to get a result away from home on the continent, but they’ll have not experienced many cauldrons of noise like Celtic Park when it’s packed under the lights on a European night.

I can’t wait for kick-off.
