This story is a strange one in two ways. What was said and how it was reported.

The Daily Record run a headline today that on another day I probably wouldn’t have gave it a second thought. But, like the nosey person that I am, I clicked it but had to read it twice as it didn’t’ make any sense.

It was reported as Alan Brazil  talking on Talksport with Ally McCoist about Celtic’s improvement under Postecoglou and a “grudging admission” that the team are looking good under the Aussie gaffer.

But strangely the first quote from, Brazil was this, “I told you ‘Cadgegoogoo’ would be brilliant, Celtic won 2-0 last night.”

That’s what confused me. I then read the rest of the article and McCoist’s quotes when it finally made sense,  “Listen… they’re looking all right.

“Having said that, I tell you that wee fella is looking lively for Celtic, Alan.

“The wee fella, Furuhashi up front. He ain’t bad mate. He’s quick, can finish, it’ll be interesting to see him against more physical opposition.

“But I tell you what, he doesn’t half look all right. I think Forrest got the second goal and Furuhashi made it as well.

“Another goal and an assist, I think he’s got six in six.”

The quote had absolutely nothing to do with Celtic’s improvement and everything to do with Postecoglou. Brazil calling the Hoops gaffer ‘Cadgegoogoo’  was a blatant attempt to discredit and disrespect a Celtic manager.

The story had nothing to do with McCoist acknowledging Celtic’s improvement and he should have been called out for it.

The Daily Record’s shameful approach to this story needs condemning and Brazil should have pulled for it.
