Every cloud has a silver lining right?

Well, the clouds that former Celtic hero Pat Bonner must be choc full of them because what he had to say on last nights BBC Sportsound after witnessing a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen.

As always with big Packie, he is a glass half full type of guy and I’m telling you now, I would love a glass of what he is drinking after listening to this, “I think they’re still capable of having a couple of big games here against Ferencvaros and against Real Betis.

“And then of course to give away to Ferencvaros is the one that , if they could win that, that could give them a decent chance.

“I’m thinking back to Brendan Rodgers time when he came in, and some of the big heavy defeats he got early on in Europe also.

“And what did he do then?

“You know he got the chance obviously to win the league and turn things around fairly quickly with a group of players. Maybe that’s a good omen. Maybe that’s a good omen for us, who knows?”

To be fair to the big man, even he admitted he was grasping at straws and the other pundits did tease him about it but with Celtic struggling to pick up a result, Postecoglou had better hope that the team morale has not been dented for the trip to Pittodrie on Sunday.

The Hoops need to start picking up points on the road to try and keep the pressure on the top spot and there is no tougher test than Aberdeen outside of Glasgow.
