Celtic produced a superb performance to defeat Anderlecht 3-0 in their Champions League Group B tie at the Constant Vanden Stockstadion.

Striker Leigh Griffiths gave them the lead seven minutes before the break from slick work involving Olivier Ntcham and Kieran Tierney.

Patrick Roberts’ effort was then deflected in by Kara Mbodji early in the second-half, and Scott Sinclair added a clinical third in stoppage-time.

However, skipper Scott Brown appeared to suffer a hamstring injury midway through the second period.

Following a controlled initial half-hour of the contest, the opening goal arose from Ntcham’s measured through pass releasing the overlapping Tierney, who crossed perfectly for Griffiths to slot in at the far post.

Anderlecht skipper Sofiane Hanni’s reply from the edge of the area failed to seriously trouble Craig Gordon, until Roberts stole possession early in the second-half and his shot was deflected into his own net by substitute Mbodji.

The impressive visitors continued to threaten with Roberts, Griffiths and substitute Callum McGregor seeing additional opportunities, while Gordon produced a flying save from Hanni at the other end.

But further sloppy defensive work witnessed Ntcham immediately seizing possession during added time, and allowing Sinclair to break into the area and finish decisively inside the near post.
