Andy Halliday, current Hearts player but a former Rangers player.
I’ve said repeatedly on this platform that current players and coaches have no place on radio phone ins as they leave themselves open to scrutiny for their comments and Halliday has form for showing his true colours when it comes to speaking about our game.
And I’ll say it again, if I was a Hearts fan and I heard one of my players talk so openly and pro another SPFL team, I would not be happy.
However, Halliday was offering his opinion on VAR from this weekends games and whilst his comments about Dermot Gallagher were well picked up on, the VAR decisions he agreed and disagreed with were not.
Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, Halliday said, “Dermot Gallagher, who cares? Genuinely, who cares what he says because he’s doing ref watch on Sky Sports News, the VAR that we are using in our country is supposed to be doing the job for us.
“And as you know, I’m not a big fan of VAR myself.
“I actually thought VAR had a very, very good weekend.
“The three incidents we’ve talked about at St Mirren, David Dickinson didn’t give one of them a normal time.
“VAR’s job is to come in and pick up the incidents that the referees have missed. So VAR done its job in that game.
“In terms of the Rangers game. Like I says, I don’t think it’s conclusive enough from the handball, but for me, it looked like a handball.
“I think Conor Goldson is a foul for Kilmarnock’s goal which Derek McInnes didn’t mention after the game.
“I don’t think there’s a debate about that.
“You can’t jump on somebody’s shoulders and have two hands on somebody’s shoulders, not allowing them to jump to compete for a ball.”
You also can’t slide into a player with studs up and crunch their ankle and not get away with it. There’s no debate about that yet here we are Andy.
The poor guy. He tries to hide his alliegences but he also fails and fails miserably.
Let’s hope Celtic go out and give his Hearts team a dose of reality this week by skelping them at Celtic Park tomorrow and ending their season on Saturday.
