Ange Postecoglou’s recruitment policy has been nothing but successful.

Not all his signings have been a success but in terms of strike rate and selling players on, he has been bang on the money.

The amount of talent he has recruited has been nothing but sensational.

So that makes this statement by Pete O’Rourke a big talking point.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, O’Rourke said, “He’s been huge. Probably no doubt he’s been Ange Postecoglou’s best signing at the club.

“He’s just really taken to Scottish football, and I think it’s probably fair to say he’s been the best player in Scotland over the last couple of seasons as well.

“He’s just such a clever player, his runs, his intelligence, his use of the ball and just his goalscoring record is right up there. So, he’s a huge fans’ favourite with the Celtic faithful.”

When I say that was a contentious statement I mean simply for the fact that he has claimed Kyogo is his best signing. On the park, he has proved his worth, but pound for pound, is he really?

Look at what we have. Mooy, cost nothing.

Joe Hart – cost £1m

Hatate – cost just over £1m

Maeda – another £1m

Juranovic – cost £2m

O’Riley – £1m

All have played a significant part in our recent history and have proven to be just as important as Kyogo.

Now, before anyone thinks I am taking a pot shot at Kyogo I am not. I am merely pointing out just how good Postecoglou’s recruitment has been it is virtually impossible to pick out a ‘best signing’.

  • GAV says:

No it isn’t. Ange’s best signing was his own contract. Without that one we’d probs be watching a real 2 team league with equity in terms of managerial nous and signing prowess (even if Howe [tfft] had signed instead of soiling his Calvin Klein’s) Angie’s best signing was defo his own contract.

  • Anthony McGonigale says:

Kyogo, Hatate, Carter- Vickers and Jota in that order for best signings so far but not much between the four of them and all are essential to the success of the mean green Celtic machine. COYBIG
