Celtic defender Kieran Tierney has been named as Scottish Football Writers’ Association Young Scottish Player of the Year.

It’s the second time in succession that the teenager has won the award having already taken the PFA Scotland young player title.

“I’m actually surprised,” Tierney admitted to BBC Scotland. “Because it doesn’t usually go to someone who’s had two or three months out injured.

“It wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my team-mates, all the staff at the club and the supporters.”
