Another good performance and win but Lennon hints at old guard return for cup final

|

To follow up from Thursday nights impressive performance and victory against Lille, Neil Lennon heaped more praise on his team today but hinted at a return of the old guard for next Sunday’s Scottish  Cup Final at Hampden.

You Turnbull and Soro got the nod in the centre of the park, as did Conor Hazard between the sticks and they did their manager proud with another very good performance. Turnbull’s dead ball delivery was crucial yet again this afternoon as he assisted in Duffy’s goal on the 70th minute from a corner and Soro kept up the energy in the holding role.  Young Hazard had a quiet afternoon but another 90 minutes under his belt and a win will do wonders for the young ‘keepers confidence.

However, when asked about next weeks team for the Scottish Cup Final Lennon said, “I think the players who have got us here you, know we’ll have a good look at that, there will maybe one or two new faces but  I would like to think that the hard core that got us here deserve the opportunity to play“. You can watch the whole post match interview here.

Which leads to the question of who will Lennon drop from the team that has served him well over the last 180 minutes of football? It is more than likely Scott Brown will feature in the managers plans for the Final with Soro dropping to the bench but the real question for me is will Turnbull start ahead of Christie? And who will start in goal as neither of the ‘keepers had featured much in last seasons Scottish Cup run?
