Celtic assistant manager John Collins has told highly-rated defender Virgil van Dijk to remain patient.

Collins has warned the Dutchman not to lose focus if he wants to go on and realise his ambition of reaching the very top.
The Hoops refused to listen to offers for the 23-year-old following him expressing
a wish to move ahead of the closing of
the transfer window earlier this week.
“I’ve spoken to Virgil about it because I have been in the same situation,” Collins told the Daily Record. “As a player you have to focus on what you are doing at that moment in time.
“Staying at the club is the right thing for him now. He will improve,” he continued. “He’s at a high level but we want to push him on and get his consistency to an even higher level. If he does that he will get his big move in time.”
