New Celtic gaffer Ange Postecoglou has come across as a man that shoots from the hip and takes no prisoners. A tough task master but a fair one, as long as everyone working with him or for him are pulling in the right direction.

Reports from Down Under suggest that Postecoglou has already started to flex his muscles with the Parkhead board and told them that there is one transfer target they must get in order for him to properly start the Celtic rebuild.

Australian media channel, Fox News, has reported that Ange has put the proposed deal with James McCarthy on hold and prioritised the signing of experienced Aussie midfielder Aaron Mooy instead.

With Mooy plying his trade in the Chinese Superleague with Shanghai SIPG, the only stumbling block it would seem is, would Celtic be able to match the salary the 30 year old currently receives in the mega money Chinese league?

One upside for the Hoops is that Mooy is a family man. He was recently left out of  the last Australian squad so that he could visit his family who have been located in the UK since his move to China due to the global pandemic, so a move to Scotland may tempt the Aussie midfielder to take the pay cut required to make the deal happen so he can be with his wife and young family.

With Ange looking forward to the Champions League qualifier in less than three weeks, time seems to be running out, and fast, to strengthen the squad in time for the clash against FC Midtjylland.
