“Because I was disrespectful” – John Hartson’s incredible Postecoglou confession

I wish others in the media talked with humility like this.

Especially after the way they treated the news of Ange Postecoglou’s announcement as Celtic manager.

Plus we all remember the press conference welcoming Ange to the club and the embarrassing questions that the media posed to the Australian gaffer?

But I wouldn’t hold my breath. The media in Scotland don’t back down. They double down right?

Which makes some factions of them cringeworthy.

But at least former Celtic striker John Hartson had the humility to back down as he spoke about how Ange Postecoglou has proved him wrong since his arrival from Japan.

When asked on The Go Radio Football Show if he thought the Celtic gaffer would have been so successful so quickly, Hartson said,  “Nobody knew. I actually said as well, I’ll admit it.

“I was totally in the wrong which I am sometimes. I actually said Celtic should look bigger.

“Because I was disrespectful. I didn’t know. I didn’t know.

“And sometimes you can’t take your words back.

“But you know what? If I had known then what I know now I would have been drooling over the choice of manager.”

Brilliant from big John.

Hartson is a great ambassador for the club and defends it (and criticises) whenever it is required.

Well done to big J for calling himself out. Like so many nervous Celts we now know our concerns were misguided through ignorance and probably influenced by anger at the board, but in a happy daze now.
Sadly this only serves to highlight the unprofessional bias of journos in Scotland’s media and press and the lack of decency they continue to show. HH
