Celtic winger James Forrest produced one of the finest individual performances for the club in recent years to destroy St Johnstone in Scottish Premiership action on Sunday.

Scoring four goals in a 6-0 win, Forrest became the first player since Maciej Zurawski in 2006 to net that amount away from home for the Hoops.

It was the kind of all-round team performance that fans have been dying to see all season and many are now hopeful it sparks a good period of consistent form.

The win moved Brendan Rodgers’ side up into third place in the table, just three points behind league leaders Hearts, who lost at Ibrox.

If Celtic’s season is to kick into gear, it needs to happen now with three tough matches to come after the international break.

The Hoops host Hibs at Celtic Park in league action before travelling to face RB Leipzig away from home in the UEFA Europa League. Just days later it’s the challenge of Hearts at Murrayfield in the Scottish League Cup semi-final.

If players like Forrest can recreate such sparkling form we can be hopeful of positive results.

Fans have taken to Twitter over the last 24 hours to share their thoughts on Forrest’s Sunday performance…
