Celtic Head of Recruitment Lee Congerton is in line to take up a new role at Anderlecht, according to The Scottish Sun.

The experienced Frank Arnesen is set to start a new project as Technical Director at the Belgian club this Thursday and has earmarked Congerton as a potential addition to his new recruitment team, say the paper.

Arnesen was Sporting Director at Chelsea for five years before moving on to Hamburg, working closely with Congerton at both clubs.

Congerton arrived at Celtic in March 2017 but has been one of a number of staff members at the club criticised by supporters for less than stellar transfer windows since then.

Complaints came to a head this summer, with many questioning how the recruitment process at the club functions and what Congerton’s exact role is.

With transfer flops like Marvin Compper also arriving, some have wondered whether we should be looking to change the current scouting set-up at Lennoxtown.

Brendan Rodgers though has often defended Congerton and his recruitment team, so it’s unlikely he would be happy to see the former Chelsea leave for Anderlecht, especially in a critical transfer window.
