Boss acclaims ‘huge’ points

Celtic manager Neil Lennon was delighted to get right back on the winning trail following their 2-0 victory at Aberdeen.

“It’s a huge three points for us. We looked a good team and it sets us up nicely for Tuesday” – Neil Lennon

The visitors struck twice during the final quarter of the game to reclaim top spot in the table courtesy of substitute Lassad Nouioui and Charlie Mulgrew. Former leaders Hibernian crashed 3-1 at bottom club Dundee in their later kick-off.

Their success was actually Celtic’s first maximum return in four league games following consecutive draws with St Johnstone and Dundee
United and a surprise home loss to Kilmarnock. It also offered them a welcome boost ahead of their vital midweek Champions League visit to Benfica.

“I put a powerful team out today because I felt we had to be physical,” Lennon told BBC Scotland. “I thought we had control of the game today for long periods, without quality at the end of it, but we got there. It’s a huge three points for us. We looked a good team and it sets us up nicely for Tuesday.”
