Celtic’s first-team coach John Kennedy believes recent comments by manager Ronny Deila have been strongly misconstrued.

‘I think what he’s meaning is we weren’t brave enough to get on the ball’ – John Kennedy

The Norwegian was quoted as saying his side appeared “frightened and scared” during their Champions League 4-3 aggregate defeat to Malmo in Sweden.

“I think what he’s meaning is we weren’t brave enough to get on the ball like we normally would at Celtic Park,” Kennedy told BBC Scotland. “Sometimes the manager will say things and the translation can be mixed up.”

Both skipper Scott Brown and Kris Commons have since disagreed with their manager’s take on proceedings.
