Not too long ago, Vital Celtic reported that former Hoops midfielder Victor Wanyama was eager for a return to Celtic Park.

Speaking to Football Scotland, the solid midfield general said, “Celtic was a club that I would love to play for again and again. It’s more than a club. I enjoyed my time there,” he told Football Scotland at the start of November.

“I honestly want to come back and give it a last go because I love the club, the people there, the fans, just everything there was great. They give the players everything to go on the pitch and perform. Everything was just on top.”

“There was a loan approach but I don’t know what happened. I didn’t follow it up that much.”

With the Hoops clearly looking to strengthen in the centre of the park, the news that Wanyama was keen on a return to Paradise really set the Celtic fans tongues wagging and the transfer rumour mill into overdrive.

But it looks like any hopes of a Parkhead reunion has been ended as the CF Montreal midfield man admitted that he wants to stay with the North American club into next season.

Speaking to TVA Sports, Wanyama said, “I still have a contract here, I love the club and I just want to focus on our task.

“I’ll be here next season too.”

So it does look like any potential deal for the 31 year old Kenyan does now seem dead in the water, unless there is a change of heart anytime soon.
