In the end Celtic couldn’t be separated from big rivals Rangers following a scoreless encounter at Celtic Park.

Winger Scott Sinclair missed their best opportunity when firing wide after receiving from Stuart Armstrong before the break.

Alfredo Morelos had soon called Craig Gordon into action with an angled strike after Mikael Lustig’s pass was intercepted by Josh Windass.

However, James Forrest saw a reply turned aside by goalkeeper Wes Foderingham, who also kept out Moussa Dembele’s looping header before Sinclair couldn’t turn in the rebound despite a couple of attempts.

Sinclair then dragged an outstanding chance wide when Armstrong linked with Callum McGregor just ahead of the interval, while Gordon superbly denied James Tavernier’s volley following the restart.

Armstrong drove wide at the other end, although it was home keeper Gordon next vitally blocking Morelos’ point-blank header.

The Colombian also headed Tavernier’s inviting cross behind as neither side could make the breakthrough, with the hosts failing to score at home for the first time since March 2016 .
