Holders Celtic swept past the challenge of Kilmarnock in a 5-0 League Cup second round victory at Celtic Park.

Leigh Griffiths struck another double during the opening half and teenager Anthony Ralston claimed his first senior goal in between.

Stand-in captain Kieran Tierney then added a superb finish from distance after the break before Stuart Armstrong finally completed matters.

The Hoops took fourteen minutes to go in front as Jordan Jones fouled Jonny Hayes inside the area and Griffiths despatched the penalty into the bottom corner.

Griffiths then delivered the corner headed in by youngster Ralston before Killie keeper Jamie MacDonald reacted superbly to deny the in-form goalscorer.

Tierney later supplied the through pass that allowed Griffiths to beat the offside trap and register a third goal inside the opening half-hour.

That was improved following the break when Tierney magnificently crashed into the top corner of the net from around forty-yards.

First-time goalscorer Ralston later capped off a particularly memorable occasion for himself by then offering Armstrong a simple tap-in for number five.
