Laxalt lauds “class player” as Uruguayan faces team mates in Europa clash

|

Celtic take on AC Milan tonight in a fixture that sees Diego Laxalt come up against his employers with the left-back on loan from the Italian giants, as reported by The Daily Record.

Speaking as part of the pre-match build up, the Uruguayan, who made his debut against Rangers on Saturday was asked about how to stop one of European football’s modern day legends as Zlatan Ibrahimovic comes to town:

“I could talk all night about Zlatan!

“He is exactly the way you see him in real life! He’s got a fantastic personality but he’s a class player as well. You can see that in the long career he’s had.

“How do we stop him? These are the sort of things you keep inside the dressing room.

“But you would treat him like any other players because we have to defend well.

“But it’s something I will discuss with my teammates.”

Laxalt had a mixed debut in which he showed plenty of endeavour and was a willing runner throughout the 90 minutes, however, he was isolated tactically in both defence and attack and will be hoping for greater support this evening.

It is a perfect fixture for Neil Lennon and his coaching staff to reset and go again after the derby disappointment, however, the outfit from Serie A will also be looking to get off to a good start in their Europa League campaign.

All eyes will be on the starting line-up to see if the gaffer swings the axe or if he gives those who let him down at the weekend a second chance – a chance that could be the last for many of them.
