It hasn’t been an easy campaign for Leigh Griffiths. He’s spent a lot of his campaign injured, and since his return, he’s struggled to prove his worth. He’s started just 5 league games this term, and for a player of his quality, that’s clearly not enough.

However, he isn’t giving up, and he’s now revealed exactly what he thinks he needs to do to earn his place back in the first team.

As per the official Celtic website, Griffiths said: “Taking your chance when you get it is all you can ever do. When you’re called upon, whether that be from the bench or starting the game, you need to make an impression”.

He added: “I need to wait for my opportunity and when I do get that starting slot or come off the bench, I need to make an impression like I did at Hamilton”.

Griffiths, of course, bagged a late goal against Hamilton to seal a 3-0 win earlier this season.

It would be easy for Griffiths to give up. He’s not making regular starts, and OdsonneĀ Edouard is looking good ahead of him. However, all is not lost.

All it takes is a few goals off the bench to start asking questions, and Brendan Rodgers won’t be able to ignore him if he starts to score regularly. Players like Ryan Christie have come in this term, taking their chances and not looked back – and the same can happen to Griffiths.

The fact that he isn’t giving up bodes well for his chances. We’reĀ eager to see him back in the starting eleven more regularly.
