Celtic at risk of being gazumped in race for increasingly important target

|

Celtic need to start adding players across the board this summer but it’s in defence where, arguably, the most work now needs to be done.

Dedryck Boyata is gone, Mikael Lustig is gone, Filip Benkovic’s loan has finished and Jeremy Toljan has had the same happen – we’re thin on the ground at the back.

Indeed, on the right side of defence we’re particularly short of options.

With Lustig and Toljan’s exits, we need a new right-back to come in as soon as and Sky Sports are among those to report that Carl Jenkinson is of interest to us this window.

However, it seems as though we’re at risk of being gazumped by Championship side West Brom, with the Baggies – according to the report – in talks with the defender at the moment.

It remains to be seen, then, whether we look to try and beat them to his signing but, certainly, if we don’t we need to find a right-back that will sign for us.
