Not that we were worried about what the Celtic board think about the Ange to Leeds links, the only thing that really matters is what the gaffer himself thinks.

And he has repeatedly reiterated his happiness at being the Celtic boss for the immediate future.

As I am always keen to point out, Ange will leave, but not quite yet.

But it seems that the Celtic board are making their feelings known about the rumours as Keith Jackson pops up with his latest piece and it seems that Peter Lawwell and Mark Nicholson are not overly fussed about the rumours either.

According to Jackson in the Daily Record, “Record Sport understands that, as of late Tuesday afternoon, Celtic had received no contact from the Leeds board asking for permission to open talks with Postecoglou.

“Furthermore, chief executive Michael Nicholson and chairman Peter Lawwell believe the 57-year-old is happy, motivated and completely committed to leading his side towards a second successive Premiership title, despite any potential interest from across the border.”

So if that’s the case, why not offer him a contract that reflects that commitment?

Why, still, continue with a rolling contract when history tells us [Brendan Rodgers] that if you have a manager whose stock is high, you should look to tie him down for as long as you can so that if a club does come sniffing around then we will be suitably recompensed?

Let’s hope that contract talks are high on the Celtic board’s agenda when it comes to Ange because the board would be accused of negligence by the fans should the gaffer be allowed to walk away for free at any point in the future.

Who are Celtic’s most capped players from these countries?

  • Kevin McCarthy says:

I think the time has come to bar Jackson and his paper from Camlachie and Celtic Park

  • John says:

Paddy, I don’t think changing his contract will have any impact in what Ange wants to do. Did we not get about £9million for BR and his team when they debunked?? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

Hi John. That’s the point though. Ange will leave us at some point. Is it not best to get him tied up so that the club is recompensed suitably when that time comes
