You know what. The Green Brigade have my full blessing. Continue with your protest. Keep piling pressure on this incompetent and not fit for purpose Celtic board. Keep up the banners because after what I listened to on the Only As Good As Your Last Game podcast, I am done with this board.

I wrote this week about them getting away with murder and I was correct.

Speaking on the podcast, Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph revealed the reason why Odsonne Edouard’s  contract was allowed to enter its final year.

This one act of incompetence (I know there are others, but lets face it, Eddy is THE main valuable asset at Paradise) WILL cost the club multi millions of pounds in lost revenue, “Celtic were probably likely to sign him up on a new deal on the proviso that he is allowed to leave this summer.

“So he would have maybe had like three years left in his contract, and would have been allowed to go if a club came in with a bit of 30 million pounds or 25 million pounds or something like that, there might have been some kind of clause that he would have been allowed to leave.

Are the board doing a good job?

YES

YES

NO

NO

“But because of COVID times, lot of uncertainty with everything. No contract was signed. He’s got a year left on his contract.

“If Celtic can get 18 million pounds for him that, I think, is good business in the climate. But yes, it is a bargain for Odsonne Edouard.”

So, because of “uncertainty” around COVID, Edouard never signed a contract extension.

Did the football world just stop because of the pandemic?

I wish it had because that could have meant that we could have offered Edouard a £60k per week contract extension for a year instead of throwing that money at Shane Duffy. Hell, even invest half that to top up Edouard’s wage to convince him to sign on the dotted line.

But as ever, the Celtic board made a mess of it and now they find themselves in a situation where they are scratching around like blind mice trying to find someone, anyone to offer anything anywhere decent for our top striker.

£18m, if we are lucky. I wonder when the next Green Brigade protest will be………
