Damien Duff recently joined the coaching team at Celtic, with the former Chelsea winger working with the reserve team at Celtic Park. Of course, he’s a man with lots of experience at every level, and so it’s great that someone with so much knowhow will be helping to coach the next generation of Celtic heroes.
He, of course, knows first team manager Brendan Rodgers from their time together at Chelsea, when Rodgers was a youth coach at the club, and as per the BBC, he’s revealed an interesting detail about the Celtic manager that will endear him even more to Celtic supporters.
Duff said: “He was brilliant with me down there. We would obviously talk about Celtic; it’s my dream club, it was his dream club then”.
So, whilst Rodgers has been at some incredible clubs over the years, perhaps it was Celtic Park that he was really chasing – and that just shows the sort of pulling power that our club has.
Of course, given recent links between Rodgers and Leicester City, this is an important detail. It seems unlikely that Rodgers would give up what he’s got going on – at supposedly his dream club – for a post at a mid-table Premier League side.
It’s no surprise that he’s achieved so much. It’s clear that this was never just a stepping stone for him – this is the stone that he wants to be on. And we’re hoping he stays for a long time.
