Celtic eyeing deal for energetic ace

|

According to the Daily Record, Celtic are looking at trying to sign Brentford man Romaine Sawyers this summer in a bid to bolster our midfield options at the club.

The likes of Callum McGregor and Scott Brown remain in the team but with the future of the likes of Olivier Ntcham up in the air it remains to be seen exactly who we have for the new campaign.

It seems that Sawyers is a player that we are considering as coming in, then, and he’d likely be a good addition to our midfield.

What he brings in the middle of the park is energy and good passing.

At 6ft 1in he is a decent size for a central midfielder and his partnership with Kamohelo Mokotjo in Brentford’s midfield has proven successful with them complementing each other’s high energy game – indeed, he referred to that in an interview with the Bees’ website last season, with both providing good industry.

Indeed, in that interview, he also addresses accusations of looking lazy when, actually, his numbers suggested he was one of the most active players on the pitch for the Griffin Park side.

Certainly, he would bring good mobility to the Celtic side whilst he has a keen eye for playing the ball forwards – always a good trait to have from deep.
