Celtic face transfer battle with Rangers over £4m rated Premier League winger

|

According to a report in The Glasgow Times, Celtic have been joined in their chase of West Ham winger, Grady Diangana, by derby rivals Rangers as both sides of the city’s divide look to add reinforcements to their forward line.

The England Under-21 international has been in decent form for his current loan team, West Brom, with seven goals and six assists in 28 league appearances, such has been his impact at the Midlands club that they want to secure the £4million rated forward’s services for next season.

With the Baggies sitting in second place in the Championship they have a decent chance of automatic promotion to the Premier League and that could be enough to sway him into another season under Slaven Bilic.

The Times does give some encouragement for Neil Lennon though by reporting that first-team football is the 22-year old’s primary objective and the lure of Champions League football could be enough to tempt him into moving north of the border.

How much truth there is in the rumour remains to be seen though with the Celtic gaffer’s priority likely to be bolstering his defence rather than his attack after yet another departure in the shape of centre-half Jack Hendry.

He may have been on the fringes of the squad but it leaves Lennon short of numbers in the middle of his defence to go with the goalkeeping “situation” that needs to be sorted as soon as possible, with the season starting in just two weeks time, he doesn’t have a lot of time to get new faces through the door ahead of what is going to be one of the most pressurised seasons in the club’s history.
