The Celtic transfer rumour mill continues to flow today as Ange Postecoglou looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new season.

The supporters are expecting many more incomings this summer but one thing they certainly don’t want to see is more players leaving, especially those that are tipped to have a massive future at the club.

Reports from The Athletic have suggested that young Celtic centre back Leo Hjelde has begun negotiations to join English Premier League outfit, Leeds United.

Hjelde has recently been likened to former Celtic defender Virgil Van Dijk and after a successful loan spell at Ross County last season, hopes were high at the club that the youngster would kick on and possibly make the breakthrough to the first team.

Does Leo Hjelde have a Celtic future?

YES

YES

NO

NO

Celtic signed Hjelde from Rosenberg back in 2019 and the youngster earned rave reviews for his performances for Ross County in the second half of last season.

Capped at u18 level for Norway, Hjelde clearly has a bright international future ahead of him and the temptation of the riches in the English Premier League, and not to mention that Leeds manager Marecelo Bielsa is an advocate for developing young talent, young Hjelde may see his future south of the border.

The only saving grace is that Postecoglou has a great reputation for having faith in the youngsters and Hjelde may yet get his opportunity at Paradise but with the emergence of young Dane Murray, and the signing of Carl Starfelt, maybe the young Norwegian sees first team football getting further and further out his his reach and a move may be the right choice for his future.
