John McGinn has said he would like to be named Scotland captain one day. The enforcer currently has five caps for his country, and is tipped to replace Scott Brown in the middle of the park.

Speaking to Herald Scotland, he said:

‘If one day I managed to get it [captaincy], even if it`s just because the captain has been subbed, I`d be happy! The main thing is to be involved for your country, which is amazing in itself.’

Some Bhoys fans on Twitter have also tipped the 23 year old to make the switch to Celtic Park in the summer, to establish himself in our midfield as well:

The midfielder has certainly impressed since he was promoted with Hibs last season. His six goals and six assists in 37 games this campaign do show a player who is growing in stature, and he does look to have the potential to play at a higher level.

Some however see him as a long term replacement for our own captain, but I think there is still a long way to go before he`s at that level. He has certainly come on leaps and bounds over the past year or so, but I think he needs to show his form over a longer period of time before I`m convinced he deserves to wear the Green and White Hoops.
