Summer signing Jeremie Frimpong has been taken to the hearts of the Parkhead faithful in his short time at the club with a series of electric displays which earned him his first call up to the Dutch under 21 squad.

Frimpong signed from Manchester City and was expected to be mainly involved with the development squad following the signing of right-backs Hatem Abd Elhamed and Moritz Bauer.

The youngster has impressed in training and with the development squad to the extent that he is now pushing to be first-choice right-back, his trickery, pace and non-stop work rate are just some of the attributes that saw him excel in his early appearances for the first-team and earn the praise of Neil Lennon.

Frimpong’s call up to the Dutch under 21 squad is testament to the full-back’s determination to succeed at Parkhead and many feel it is just the beginning of an exciting career, these Celtic fans took to Twitter to congratulate Frimpong in his call-up with some predicting it’s only a matter of time before he lines up along another former Hoops hero.

Frimpong still has a bit to go in his development but there is no doubt the sky’s the limit for him, Celtic have a gem on their hands that could well be more valuable than the last Dutch player to leave for big money.
