It seems as every day that passes, another name is linked to the vacant Celtic managers position.  Over the last three days I have been looking a what the pundits and bookies are saying and, hopefully, I will have an article ready for Sunday night on the what the Celtic supporters say on all the names mentioned this week.

However, I digress.  This next name that has been mentioned on many fans forums, Facebook groups and twitter feeds is contentious. The fans seem unsure on whether he should return to Celtic as his reputation is so high, the potential for that to be destroyed by failing in such a high profile job at a club he is idolised, is sky high.

On last nights Clyde 1 Superscoreboard ex Celtic player, Mark Wilson, suggested former Parkhead hero, Henrik Larsson, would be a name that would “tick the boxes” for the Celtic fans but did question his ability to manager outright, “Of course he’s never really been a success as a manager outright. I mean was he linked with Southend a  couple years ago, and then he’s found himself at Barcelona. Now that is the elite level coaching, his interaction with some of the best players in the world can’t be ignored and some of the things he would pick up from from Keoman can’t be ignored.

Would you have Henrik Larsson as next Celtic manager?

YES

NO

“I think the Celtic fans would go for that.  I think it would tick the boxes, a coach coming from Barcelona, a hero. I think they would like to see him on the touchline. But it’s a big job. I see the Celtic fans split on this.

“Some want a big name, a huge name of the Brendan Rodgers calibre, some want a connection to Celtic, some want a young manager who has succeeded in Europe.”

Larsson has had relatively unsuccessful spells as manager at various Swedish clubs such as Landskrona BoIS, Falkenberg and Helsingborg.  He was also touted for a move to Southend but that fell through when one of the potential backroom staff, Tommy Johnson, decided he wanted to take a different direction.
