Celtic have signed West Ham United’s Swiss international striker Albian Ajeti, as the Parkhead club signals it’s intent with a real show of spending power, as reported by the BBC Sport website.

The deal originally was to be a season long loan, however, with Ivan Toney unlikely to be leaving English football, Neil Lennon has moved to splash the cash in a transfer said to be around the £5million mark.

The Hoops have benefitted from Ajeti having a poor solitary season under David Moyes and at 23-years old, the former £8m man still has plenty of time on his side to rediscover his outstanding form demonstrated in the Swiss Super League.

With Vakoun Issouf Bayo leaving for Toulouse, Celtic now have a strike quartet totalling over £17.5m when you consider the fees paid for Odsonne Edouard, Patryk Klimala, Leigh Griffiths and Ajeti.

The Paradise faithful may be fearful that with such a big outlay that Edouard doesn’t have long left at the club given the speculation surrounding Lennon’s talismanic forward throughout the summer and his sparkling start to the season.

Ajeti’s arrival is probably nothing more than an indication that the gaffer wants to return to his preferred 3-5-2 formation but didn’t have the personnel to implement it, a strike pairing of Edouard and the Swiss international is sure to see more results like the 5-1 hammering of Hamilton and less of the 1-1 draws with Kilmarnock.

Lennon has always spoken about fine tuning and adding quality to the squad and with Ajeti joining Vasilios Barkas and Mohamed Elyounoussi, even those of a blue persuasion couldn’t argue that he has been nothing if not true to his word.
