Celtic Find Their Clinical Edge

Yesterday, we saw a clinical Celtic at their best against a lacklustre Kilmarnock team. In a game which saw Kyogo score with his first kick of the ball, this was a Celtic team that finally looked like they had proficiency in front of goal.

Often times last season, and on the opening day against Aberdeen, the Bhoys could be wasteful with the final ball, and the conversation rate between shots on target and goals scored could be improved. Against Aberdeen they found the net twice despite having 21 shots, only 9 were on target. Meaning that the goals to shots on target ratio was about 20%.

Against Kilmarnock they were far more clinical, with 20 shots, 11 of which were on target which amounted to a goal to shots on target ratio of just under 50%.

Of course, when looking at these statistics, other factors come into play, maybe the goalkeeper has had one of those days, or the shots on target were from outside the box. Regardless, what we saw at Rugby Park was a team that was beginning to motor. A scary prospect for the rest of the league.

What is more impressive is that the goals are coming from all around the team, another screamer from Jota, Starfelt with his first for the club, and another from Jenz, his second in two games. Most pleasingly for us moving forward was that both our centre forwards managed to find the net.

This is a team slowly moving up the gears.
