Chris Sutton has warned Celtic against letting Odsonne Edouard go in the January window as the reaction from Hoops fans would not be a good one.
The Bhoys have started this season fairly well so far this year but they are two points behind Rangers after a couple of slip-ups against Livingston and Hibernian.
Certainly, in January we could well be looking to strengthen the squad and Chris Sutton believes that we simply cannot let the likes of French Eddy go mid-season, no matter what the offer that comes in.
Quoted by the Daily Record, the former Hoops striker said:
“I’m not saying Celtic will get that kind of offer but the point is it doesn’t matter how much cash is on offer, letting Edouard go in the middle of the season is simply unthinkable.
“Players have been sold at questionable times over the years and there has been uproar on occasions.
“But this would out-do any of those sales. The reaction from supporters would be nuclear.”
He’s got a point, too.
Though we might well be able to get good money for Edouard, letting him go mid-season would be a press of the self-destruct button.
He’s a class act in front of goal and in this title race we are going to need that without a doubt.
